What you say matters
We’ve gathered and read thousands of written public comments since 2005 as part of our effort to help plan for regional transit expansions. We’ve also talked to thousands of residents throughout the Puget Sound area at public meetings, summer festivals, transit centers, malls and employers’ cafeterias, and through surveys. Here are some of things we’ve heard from you so far:
  • Frequency: Fast, convenient transit services, connecting people from destination to destination in a timely manner. People want targeted investments in more daily Sounder commuter rail trips, a regional light rail system where trains come so often schedules aren’t necessary, and more express bus routes.
  • Reliable Service: People want a system that provides transit options that will get them where they need to go, when they need to get there.
  • Environmental Benefits: People want a high capacity transit system that will improve mobility throughout the Central Puget Sound region while adhering to high environmental standards. They want a service provider that is committed to building a system that protects air and water quality while at the same time offering real transportation options.
  • Affordability: People want a transit system that will use a limited spending budget to accomplish its transit objectives -- connecting the region and increasing commuter options.
  • Accountability: People want to know their dollars will go to cost-effectively delivering expanded transit service.
  • More Capacity in Congested Corridors: Continuing job and population growth will clog our roads and make it harder to get around--posing a real risk to our regional economy. People want transit investments that add to our people-moving capacity in the most crowded corridors and meet the region’s needs on a long-term basis. This will keep our region moving and support the economy.
